37-55" Retractable Baby Gates for Stairs & Doorways

$39.99
Current as of 2026-10-26

This retractable baby gate is built for openings that measure between 37 and 55 in, making it a practical fit for stairways and doorways where a fixed-width gate would be awkward. The roll-up design lets the mesh panel retract into a slim housing when the passage is not in use, so the walkway stays clear instead of holding a swinging barrier.

Because the panel pulls out to the needed width and locks in place, the gate can cover a range of openings rather than one exact measurement. The black finish keeps the hardware visually quiet against dark trim and railings, while the mesh section allows air and light to pass through. It is intended for indoor use around stairs and doorways.

Installation calls for mounting the housing and the catch on opposite sides of the opening, then adjusting the panel tension so it retracts smoothly. The gate is operated with one hand, which helps when carrying a child or supplies. Its compact rolled-up profile suits hallways and landings where space is limited.
